Summary
The January 1965 Beaver Beacon celebrated ten years since the first issue was mailed in January 1955. Its retrospective names early contributors and reports that 538 copies of the first issue were mailed; by the end of that month the publication had 153 memberships, 136 personal and 17 business.
The anniversary issue’s February follow-up also reprints three wedding notices from the February 1955 Beacon, preserving the retrospective character of the tenth-anniversary series.
The March follow-up recalls the 1955 Box Social and Amateur Night, the Mardi Gras masquerade, and a Walt Disney Comics image of the Beaver Island Post Office.
Evidence and limits
The anniversary issue preserves a publication milestone and a partial founding contributor list. It does not provide a complete staff roster, publication ledger, constitution, or membership register.
