Summary

On October 21, 2002, Jeff announced the launch of the Beaver Beacon image gallery and forum. The gallery initially included photographs from the first three Beaver Beacons and historic photographs from the Beaver Island Historical Society. A 2013 administrator account adds that the Beacon site included the forum and gallery at launch, and that the standalone beaverislandforum.com domain and a second forum proposal were consolidated in early 2003. The announcement invited community members to contribute photographs and use the forum for discussion.

Evidence limits

The 2002 post and 2013 retrospective document intended features and a claimed origin sequence. They do not establish the complete contents of the gallery, the later growth of the forum, a server migration, or the permissions status of the photographs. The archived forum data is preserved for research; user-generated material is not cleared for publication by this event record.
