A black-and-white silent film of the steamboat landing at St. James. Gault’s own notation reads: “Steamboat landing at St. James Beaver Island - members of our party boarding the steamer for the return trip to Charlevoix.”
The Chicago Academy of Sciences dates the film only to ca. 1900-1942 and suggests the 1920s from what the passengers are wearing. It is the earliest moving image of the island this archive holds, and the first of any kind.
