Summary
The CMU Digital Michigan Newspapers inventory records 521 indexed Beaver Beacon issues from March 1955 through July 2002. The project now holds 520 of them; 2000-05 is the sole indexed issue still unacquired.
This inventory established the existence and address of a much larger CMU-held run, including the 1975–2001 period then absent from the BIHS issue set. That gap has since been closed. The inventory does not provide OCR or page content, and it remains the only external check on which months carry an issue — see *Beaver Beacon* holdings census and missing issues for the current holdings census.
Access and evidence limits
The project did not fetch issue pages or PDFs from CMU. The inventory was derived from a sitemap copy archived by the Internet Archive because the CMU host’s robots.txt disallows automated access and the portal presents bot protection. Acquisition of the missing issues requires a direct request to the Clarke Historical Library; the index is not a license to redistribute them.
Month-level comparison slightly overstates gaps for combined BIHS issues such as May–June 1968.
